Celebrations and Introspections

For the past two nights I've gone to kirtan with Dave.  Both events were at Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica - the yoga studio owned and operated by Govindas and Radha.  Friday night was kirtan with Andres Salcedo.  Andre performs with his beautiful wife, Mehgan, who is an accomplished classical citar player as well as a Balinese dance student/enthusiast.Clay and Haribo played with them as well.  All beautiful and wonderful, open people.

Govindas and his beautiful wife shared their kirtan with many last night.  Clay was there again as well as a passionate tablas player  (I forget his name), and a guest singer, Chris Morro.  At the end of the kirtan session, Govindas said that if anyone has questions to feel free to ask.  I approached Govindas with some questions.  He is the sweetest, most open person.  He was so kind as to bestow me with their new cd.

Seeking is simple but not easy.   This perception (simple  but not easy) may translate into any effort on the spirit path - or so is what I am currently subscribing to.  The challenges are not out their in the world, waiting in the dark to pounce on us once we leave our "safe" zone.  It's all inside the mind stuff.

Despite the many festivities, my heart has been a little heavy lately.  Perhaps the poor diet and stress from the road are finally catching up... but I know blaming external sources is irrelevant.  When one is in line with Divine Purpose, there is no stress or unhealth in the body - only pure Light and Love.

Am I worthy?  Is my heart sincere?

Am I aligned with Divine Purpose?
I've been asking myself these questions a lot in the past couple of days.  The answers I've received are that I wish to  be worthy, to seek with a sincere heart, and Ito be aligned with Divine Purpose.

Is = Now

I wish to embody these attributes in the now - and it is emotionally painful when I do  not.  Prayer, introspection, meditation, breath.  May the healing lights come through for us All.  Aum namah Siva.

  1. Dear folks,
    About the painting of Siva and Parvati behind the people in the photo at the top of this entry ...

    This is far and away the best painting/artistic depiction of these Deities I have seen to date. I get from it an inspiration, an homage fitting to the co-Creators of a universe.

    Aum shanti. -Jai
